Is this a good or bad assignment if not why?

this is a year 10 oral and if u can help me make it any better i would really appreciate it, thank you for the help.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen today I will be talking about why there should be stricter consequences if you drink drive. Every day there are thousands of people who are injured or killed from people who drink drive in Australia. Drink driving is a very serious problem worldwide and it causes so many deaths because of their stupidity and I believe something bigger should be done to those people who drink drive.

In Australia there are many deaths caused by people who decide to drink drive and I believe something should be done about these people who don鈥檛 think and drink drive. The government should introduce new and insensitive laws to the person who chooses to drink irresponsibly and get behind a wheel. I believe that there should be stricter consequences such as longer time in jail and much bigger fines. Many drunk drivers out there are repeat offenders who just don't get it. They just can't understand the magnitude of what they have done and what they could have done, taken away an innocent life. I believe that even first timers should face tougher penalties, like long term suspension of licence, some jail time and heavy fines. Maybe after all that, they will think twice and next time, call a taxi. It only takes once to change a life forever. One moment of stupidity and irresponsibility and there goes someone鈥檚 life.

Over the past month there already has been many drink drivers getting away with soft consequences and that鈥檚 maybe why there are many drink drivers in Australia. On the 5th of January 2008, a 15 year old teenager was killed by a drunk driver and the killer got less than 12 months jail for what he did. The consequences for killing a person in Australia while drunk driving are way too soft. Drink drivers who are ending people鈥檚 lives because of their stupidity and irresponsibility and getting only 12 months jail is just not good enough to teach them a lesson or even give them what they truly deserve for what they have done. People caught drink driving twice or more should be punished to the fullest extent. Not only are they jeopardizing their own life but they are too ignorant to see that they are also putting the lives of many innocent people in jeopardy as well and for that reason I believe that there should be a lot more jail time for those repeat offenders and even for first timers. And maybe after that long jail time they will want to avoid going to jail again and follow the law. I believe that the law for drink driving needs to be so hard that no-one dares to do it.

The laws that they have now should be more insensitive. They should make laws that aim to make drink drivers think twice about drink driving because a silly $800 dollar ticket, jail for the night and a six month license suspension is not enough to prevent some people from doing it again. Instead they should have something like a 15 to 40 thousand dollar ticket and a month in jail along with some community service to help them make up and understand what they have done because a six month license suspension, couple nights in jail and a ticket is quite easy to forget a year down the road.

In conclusion I believe there should be stricter consequences if you drink drive because it will mean that many people will be safer from drunk drivers and it will help to make these drink drivers think twice and to be more responsible because I believe if we don鈥檛 have laws that will try to stop them from drink driving what will.

I think it is soo good they will have to make a new grade for it because A+ just wont be enough.
Is this a good or bad assignment if not why?
I agree with you and your subject of choice. If a person kills a person while drunk driving they should be punished like any other murderer.

Good luck and good job.

Neat how you call it drink drive and in the U.S. we call it drunk driving.
It looks good, but you should think about cutting out the first sentence. I took a college speech class last Fall and had an instructor tell me introductions can be made as a statistic to start, so as to grab a person's attention. Consider this; how many speech s have you heard in the past start of with %26quot;Good morning ladies and Gentle men, today I will be talking about..?%26quot;
