It would be possible the school day one hour expansion can be helpful. For example, the extra hour may help students to accomplish or complete assignments faster and earlier than they could the next class. The problem with that is simply the fact that, not only students but, teachers get more pressure put on them, possibly making them sick or in other words unable to educate students. That isn鈥檛 the only thing that could happen. Bullying, punishments, extra homework, grade decreasing (from failing to do the extra assigned work in that hour) and stress, as expressed previously. We must make our Florida district schools happy and healthy, or we the citizens of Florida will face future consequences.
Let鈥檚 try to picture a real world situation. There is a boy named Mike who goes to one of Florida鈥檚 district schools. Mike is excited about going to soccer practice after school. His school is another hour longer other than the other schools in the district. Mike is not good at math, the class he has last that day. When Mike reaches his math class, he learns that he is now assigned more homework due to the extra school hour. Mike didn鈥檛 finish his work assigned in class so he did it at home. Of course he wasn鈥檛 good at math and needed more time to finish the class work and other homework assignments. Mike was unable to go to soccer practice because he didn鈥檛 finish his work. Mike had so much trouble that he took too long to complete his work and fell asleep. Mike overslept next morning and came to school with incomplete work. His grade dropped and Mike had to repeat math next year.
If student鈥檚 get a good education then they get good jobs, and good jobs help people鈥榮 lives stay in balance, so why extend the school hour when it could put people鈥檚 lives in crisis? It sounds easy and is easy, so why change it?
